Creating joy, happiness through balance in life

Are you looking to create more balance in your life? Do you spend too much time at work or too little effort on personal relationships? Is taking time for yourself simply out of the question? Balance is a state of being many of us strive for, yet when balance is achieved, we actually may run away from it. Balance is a state of alignment and equilibrium that brings peace and well-being. Consider that you can achieve it, and it is a healthy place to be.

Here are five simple, yet powerful, steps that will help you achieve balance:

1. Exercise outdoors. An activity coupled with being outside often will bring a deeper level of appreciation of your surroundings and release of tension.

2. Eat sun-fed foods. Look to eat brightly colored fruits, vegetables, beans and grains. Selecting foods that radiate life actually can enhance your mood.

3. Meditate. Commit daily to a time of quiet and meditation. One of the beauties of meditation is that it actually allows us to slow down long enough to listen to what our body and life may be telling us.

4. Read good books. Ask yourself, "How will this book serve me? What will I gain by reading this?" With this approach, you will avoid filling your mind with junk.

5. Have faith. To make any bold decisions in life you need to call upon a great deal of faith. Every setback will breed opportunity if you have faith.

You are much more likely to experience a sense of joy and happiness when you are in a balanced state. It may serve you well to do a brief self-evaluation on the steps listed above.

Make the choice today to create the life you desire. Strive to have a mind of peace, a heart of love and be a person who can bounce back from any situation. This is better accomplished from a balanced state than when you're tipped too far in one direction or another.
